Phil’s 24 Hour Row

This page shows Phil Craze’s progress as he attempted to beat the indoor rowing record – it all started at 9am Thursday 12th May, and at 08:35 Friday 13th May he beat the age group record (307683m). At the end of the 24 hours, the overall record (313112m) had been beaten by 136m!

A graph of Phil's progress

This is a 24 hour row in aid of the Stroke Association and the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society Scotland. In the process, Phil is attempting to break the age group world record, which has been held for over ten years.

Both these organisations are important to me and if you’d like to support them too, then please visit my Stroke Association fundraising page or my MS Society fundraising page. Thank you in advance for your support.

Note from David T:
To answer all the questions about reading the graph: The pale blue line is how far Phil has done so far, and the red line is how far would be covered if he was matching the record pace (both are attached to the left-hand scale). The dark line is attached to the right-hand scale, and shows how far Phil is ahead of the record pace. I hope that helps make some sense of it!

Could not believe that the site crashed on me, but worked out better as I phoned Catriona and heard all the support and spoke to Philip just after he finished. I was in tears with 6 minutes to go then was still not sure as the noise was unbelievable. Have since spoken to Philip and all well after my panic about him being looked after by the medical professionals.

WOULD YOU ALL NOT BE THE PROUDEST PERSON IN THE WORLD IF HE WAS YOUR SON?

    UNBELIEVABLE TRUE GRIT AND DETERMINATION.

I am lost for words which is rare .

  30. Mum

Thank you to everyone for supporting him through his row and making it an interactive experience.

  31. Cat

I am so proud, he’s such an inspiration. An absolutely awesome achievement. I don’t think it’s sunk in yet in for him yet. He’s sleeping now (still not had that full English yet). His body is completely and utterly drained and he can barely move now but it was all worth it. He’s chuffed to bits as you can imagine and is so delighted with all the support. I’ve been relaying messages to him and he’s looking forward to reading them all. Thank you to everyone, the crowds really spurred him on for the last spurt when he really felt he had nothing left to give. He’s a wreck now but an extremely happy one and i’m just an emotional wreck!

  32. Jen

Wowsers!!!! Absolutely amazing Phil well done!!!!

  33. Lisa

    Well done big fella!!

It was inspiring stuff to watch, every time you touched your limit your determination and sheer strength of will would push you to go even further, the mark of a true champion.

  36. Gill MacD

Well Phil you truly did it – thank you for allowing all of us to share your achievements – its not often that you get to witness such a fantastic feat, there were more than a few tears when you finished – congrats to all the support team – they did an awsome job, you can expect many bowing and courtsaying at work when you pass ;O) happy recovery

    Hi Guys,
For anyone checking in after the event. I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who left a message they were getting through to me on the day…and night, all of these helped to know that I wasn’t alone. I can’t believe we went global too.

Just to also let you know, I’m almost fully recovered, and will be back in the gym tomorrow more for a stretching session than anything else.

    Phil
